Hi All,
I am Mahalakshmi Bathrinarayanan. First of all, I thank you all for reading my blog. This is my first blog. In this blog, we are going to see the process of getting into an IT firm.
PROCESS OF GETTING INTO AN IT FIRM
IT stands for Information Technology , it is one of the booming field and has a very good growth. People from various fields such as engineering, commerce, arts and science can get into IT companies. The thing is, we need to be aware of the opportunities. Here, let us see how engineering graduates grab an offer in IT firms.
Almost all IT companies starting from start-up companies to very big MNCs comes to colleges for campus interview and the bulk recruitment happens here. Apart from that, they will be conducting off-campus drives also. There are two types of IT companies. One is Service based and the other is product based.
Companies such as Wipro, TCS, Infosys, etc.. comes under service based companies. Companies like ZOHO, Amazon, comes under product based companies. To attend assessments in service based companies there will be some eligibility criteria such as minimum 60% in XII standard, no active backlogs. Mostly they conduct 3-4 rounds. First round will be aptitude test which includes MCQs from Mathematics, logical reasoning, odd man out, English grammar. Second round will be "Programming" where two to three programming questions will be asked and you will be allowed to solve them in any languages like C, C++, JAVA, PYTHON. Next round will be technical interview. The questions asked here is from your resume. For example, if you have mentioned C programming as skill or area of interest, you will be asked questions from C like, what is an array? what is pointer? If you pass technical interview, then the chances of getting into that company is high. Final round will be HR interview. It includes simple questions like tell me about yourself, what is your strength and weakness? Why do you want to join our company? Are you willing to relocate?
After clearing HR interview you will be receiving offer letter. They will undergo background verification. The process will take around two months. They will provide training in some programming languages. After that you will be having an assessment on that. They will give 2-3 chances to clear the assessment. After clearing that, you will be put into a project. There are so many roles. Mostly they will put freshers in production support , ticket processing, where you will be having rotational shifts and in some projects you will be having weekend shifts which is rotational. They are called 24*7 work.
Few will get chance to enter development and testing. They are 24*5 works. In development you will be writing code and fixing bugs. In testing you be fixing failures and raising bugs.
Secondly, will see some basics about product based companies. If you get into product based companies, you will get very good hikes, will see a very good development in your career. In product based companies you will be having 4-5 rounds. First is aptitude. Next two rounds will be programming and advanced programming round which id difficult to clear. Remaining rounds will be same as service based have.
